Musical Performance:

Glenda Del E & Q-Ban Mixology Trio * an award-winning Caribbean pianist-singer-songwriter/TDN ambassador

Glenda del E’s experience as a seasoned musician, educator and performer, has crossed barriers and frontiers, thus being able to collaborate with musicians from different cultures, ages, and music genres, the same is said for the audiences and places she has taken her music to. She gives Cuban music a fresh new take with
her exceptional musicality. Her idea of “Q-ban Mixology” in music, evolved from Glenda’s trademark, positive and inspiring lyrics and melodies for all ages, pop-soul hooks and funk-jazz influenced arrangements defy generally held notions of what Cuban music is and defines her truly genuine and real sound.

“It never ceases to amaze me the fine talent that comes out of Cuba, and Glenda can be added to the list.” -Dave Milbourne, Toronto Jazz Magazine

Les Nubians (special appearance)  * Grammy-nominated Afropean duo/TDN ambassadors

Les Nubians, a self-described ‘Afropean’ hip hop/rhythm and blues,  is an R&B Grammy-nominated duo composed of sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart from Paris, France. They have become one of the most successful French-language musical groups in the U.S., best known for their Billboard R&B Single “Makeda.” In 2012, Les Nubians was honored with Musician of the Year Award at 2nd Annual African Diaspora Awards in NYC.

“French-Cameroonian sisters Helene and Celia Faussart unique Afropean soul lifts the spirit and moves the feet. Intoxicating rhythms underpin their sensual ballads and pointed social commentaries.” –USA Today

Melvis Santa (guest) * award-winning Caribbean singer

Melvis Santa, considered one of the most gifted singers of Havana’s new music scene, is a artist in residency at Minton’s Playhouse. She was part of the innovative all-girl a capella quartet Sexto Sentido, and winner of the prestigious Cuban Youth Jazz competition (JOJAZZ) in 2001, which brought the attention of jazz legend Chucho Valdés. As a solo artist, her gorgeous voice and sophisticated style invoke the magic of the legendary singers Merceditas Valdés, Moraima Secada and Omara Portuondo -who came to fame with the birth of Cuban cool in Havana’s Feeling movement.
