Transdiaspora Network Winner of the 2015 Neighborhood Grant
Transdiaspora Network (TDN) has been awarded with the 2015 Neighborhood Grant from Citizens Committee for NYC (CCNYC) in order to keep engaging young local people in leadership roles across the metropolitan area to promote healthy lifestyles and to implement our community-oriented program Tour to Health. In addition to monthly HIV prevention and health promotion workshops, the “Tour to Health” encompasses site visits to significant New York-based organizations, neighborhood clinics and cultural institutions. We also plan to connect this community initiative with our recently launched the Cross-cultural Youth Coalition, a pilot exchange program aim to be more inclusive in our global outreach and assist young people locally from other geographical regions in understanding the need to identify risky behaviors, to change attitudes toward the HIV-related social stigma and increase their level of advocacy and civic engagement among their peers.
This grant has been also possible with the support of Aetna Foundation Healthy Neighborhoods.
